Wayang is Indonesia’s puppet theatre art. For centuries Wayang flourished at the royal courts of Java and Bali as well as in rural areas; with two most popular ones called Wayang Kulit (shadow puppets made of leather) and Wayang Golek (wooden rod puppets). 

Irawan, one of the main heroes of the Mahabharata, is the central deity in multiple cults of Tamil origin, and known for sacrificing himself to the goddess Kali to ensure her favour and the victory of the Pandavas in the Mahabarata war.
